Michael Joyce

Founder | A&P / IA | Maintenance, Airworthiness & Airport Operations

Michael Joyce is an aviation maintenance leader with more than 25 years of military, public-service, and general aviation experience. His background includes U.S. Marine Corps KC-130 flight-line and in-flight maintenance, USAF Hurricane Hunters maintenance, Georgia Army National Guard UH-60 MEDEVAC support, heavy maintenance at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Atlanta, and aviation maintenance leadership with the Virginia Army National Guard.

Michael has worked as a lead mechanic and inspector with the Georgia Forestry Commission, supporting maintenance and inspections on a fleet of Cessna 172 and 182 aircraft. He also worked as a mechanic and restoration specialist with C&D Aviation, supporting CubCrafters build-assist and restoration work. C&D Aviation earned 2nd place for the Charles Lindbergh Trophy at Oshkosh in 2017, an honorable mention from that chapter of his career.

As an FAA-certificated Airframe & Powerplant mechanic with Inspection Authorization, Michael focuses on annual inspections, condition inspections, airworthiness decisions, logbook and AD review, maintenance planning, pre-purchase support, owner education, and practical systems that help keep aircraft safe, compliant, and affordable to operate.

Michael is also a commercial pilot student and double major at Liberty University, combining hands-on maintenance experience with formal aviation education and practical flight training.

Benjamin Sheppard brings airline, military, public-service, and general aviation experience to Antioch Aviation. He is currently a Senior First Officer with United Airlines and has prior Part 121 experience with Atlas Air Worldwide, including Captain experience, and Trans States Airlines / United Express, where he served as an EMB-145 Captain and First Officer.

Ben’s background also includes Army MEDEVAC crew-chief service in Iraq, pilot experience with the Georgia Forestry Commission, pilot recruiting, pilot mentorship, and practical support for pilots transitioning into professional aviation careers.

His work with Antioch Aviation focuses on flight operations, safety culture, aircraft ownership decisions, pilot development, training pathways, and operator-focused decision-making for aircraft owners, flying clubs, and aviation organizations.
